The Band Members Are - Instrumentalists


KATEŘINA CHUDOBOVÁ (*1965) - flute, piccolo, alto flute, and recorders
She is a graduate of the State Conservatoire in Prague and the School of Music at Academy of Musical Arts, Prague. While studying, she focused on chamber music and was a member of the folk group Klíč. She currently performs with chamber ensembles, such as Musica a tre, Lyra da camera, and Trio Enfonico, focusing mainly on Czech contemporary music. She joined the LINHA SINGERS in 1988 (under her maiden name, Vrkočová). For family reasons, she left the group in 1990 but came back in 1994.
JANA KARTÁKOVÁ (*1968) - flute, recorders
She is a graduate of the State Conservatoire in Prague. After studies, she was a guest-member of the National Theater orchestra and the Musical Theater Orchestra, Prague. She is a member of several chamber ensembles. She performs with the female trio, Puellae de Bohemia (focusing on medieval music), the chamber ensemble, Lyra da camera (17th and 18th century), and is a member of the Duo Témbr (the other member plays the guitar). She has been a member of the LINHA SINGERS since 1993.
JITKA NAVRÁTILOVÁ - cembalo, piano, keyboard
She studied cembalo at the State Conservatoier in Pilsen and then at the School of Music at the Academy of Musical Arts, Prague. She gained further experience at interpretation courses in Zurich and Stuttgart and at major international competitions. She is presently often invited for concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad both as a soloist as well as a reliable partner of orchestras and various chamber ensembles. She is often also invited to cooperate with solo instrumentalists and vocalists. She is a lecturer at the State Conservatoire in Pilsen. She has been a member of the LINHA SINGERS since 1988.
PETR KOŘÍNEK (*1943) - double bass
He is a graduate of the State Conservatoire in Brno (double bass and piano). He is a legend of Czech jazz. He played with the S+HQ K. Velebného, L. Déczi's Jazz Cellula, and Czech Radio Big Band for many years but also cooperated with a number of famous soloists, such as J. Stivín, K. Růžička, E. Viklický, and J. Vejvoda. On an international scale, he peformed with A. Praskin, L. Harper, K. Edwards, E. Mangelsdorf, etc. He is a lecturer at the Ježek's State Conservatoire in Prague and the artistic leader of the Petr Kořínek Jazz Orchestra. He has been a member of the LINHA SINGERS since 2001.
EDUARD ROUSEK (*1950) - drums
At the age of eight, he started studying at the Elementary Music School, where he got acquainted with accordion and later also trumpet. At the age of thirteen, he joined and concerted abroad with a renowned brass band. He continued as a trumpet player while at military service but as early as in the 70's, he was already a renowned drummer. He played in several pop and jazz bands and cooperated with the orchestra of the ABC Praha theater and later also with FISYO Praha, recording movie soundtracks. He has been a member of the LINHA SINGERS since 1975.
IGOR FRONĚK (*1946) - sound engineer
After finishing his studies at Grammar School and Film School in Čimelice (1966), he worked for the Czechoslovak Radio in Hradec Králové in various engineering positions, including sound engineering. In 1972, he started working as a director and continued until 1978 after he had been forced to leave the radio. In 1981-82, he was the sound engineer at the Black Light Theater of Jiří Srnec. In 1990, he was a co-founder of the regional TV station, RTR INTES, and from 1991 until its dissolution in 1993, he was its chief. In 1994-97, Mr. Froněk worked as a director for the Czech Radio in Hradec Králové. He has been the sound engineer of the LINHA SINGERS from 1982 (with the interruption from 1991 through 1995).
